This course will require engagement with material, critical thinking, and the ability to communicate. The Academic Enhancement Center helps URI students succeed through three services: Academic Coaching, Subject-Based Tutoring, and The Writing Center. To learn more about any of these services, please visit http://uri.edu/aec or call 401-874-2367 to speak with reception staff. Hours are posted at http://web.uri.edu/ceps/academic-skills-center/

If you, or anyone you know, is at risk of going hungry please visit the Rhody Outpost, a food pantry operated by URI. Rhody Outpost is open twice per month at St. Augustine Church at 15 Lower College Rd. For open hours see https://web.uri.edu/deanofstudents/rhody-outpost/ . Rhody Outpost protects the privacy of all visitors. Students may also visit the Jonnycake Center in Peace Dale.

If you have children or family members that need care during the semester and that limits you ability to come to or participate in class, please let me know. I will work with you to complete the material at home.

URI is dedicated to providing and inclusive and supportive environment for students, which embraces diversity in all forms and rejects any form of workplace hostility, bullying, or harrassment. Please note that all faculty members are mandatory reporters for Title IX violations, which means that if you report sexual harassment to me I must report that to the Title IX office.

It is my personal goal to make this class inclusive and supportive of the needs of all students. However, you may find that your classmates (or your instructor) say things that make you uncomfortable or excluded. Please talk to me about these situations so we can rectify them. If you are comfortable doing so please share your pronouns with me and/or the class. You should also respect and honor other people’s pronouns.

Note: Credit to Dr. Rowan Martindale for the language of inclusion.
